I thought I would use today’s Everyday Reboot to jot some of my plans down for the forthcoming ice hockey season. I know, you are probably all getting sick of me writing about that now. But, from my point of view, it is something that is on my mind with the start in the not too distant future.
I will be reporting on the Manchester Storm for Chasing The Puck. I have already started covering the summer transfers for the last couple of weeks since I joined. I have to admit it has been a great process so far, the guys at Chasing The Puck have been welcoming, a laugh and serious when work needs to be done. It has been exactly what I have needed.
My limited time reporting on the Manchester Storm has brought me closer to the club. Due to having to report on the news and actions of the club, it has made me take an even more of a vested interested. Although I aim to be as impartial as possible, I am still a fan at heart and the opportunity to become more knowledgeable is one that I am going to grasp with both hands.
As part of this season, I am going to aim to visit all of the Ice Arenas in the Elite Ice Hockey league. It is my absolute shame that I can say that, up until this point, I have only visited the 2 arenas Manchester Storm have played in during their history. I already have my tickets booked to visit the Coventry Blaze in a couple of weeks to start my mini escapade.
I aim to visit, time permitting my other local Ice Hockey club the Blackburn Hawks. Blackburn is an equal distance as the Manchester Storm is in Altrincham and to my shame, I have never visited. Blackburn Hawks play their hockey a few leagues lower than that of the Elite Ice Hockey League, I am intrigued to see the difference and maybe report on my findings.
Lastly, I would like to watch more of the NHL. This is something that I promise myself every year, start with good intentions then allow myself to fall by the wayside. You see, hitting my 30’s I can not stay up till silly o’clock watching American sports, I have real-world, real-life commitments. To combat this I am going to purchase NHL TV, this will allow me to watch the games on-demand, just as long as I can avoid the scores on social media before I get a chance to watch.
So there we have it, my ice hockey plans for the 2019/2020 season. I will be doing as much reporting on the Manchester Storm and the NHL for Chasing The Puck as I can, as well as taking you guys along for the ride.
Till the next reboot…
